OHMI offers bleach plants with a capacity of up to 450 tons per day. The basic principal of countercurrent bleaching is as simple as it is effective. In the first stage, or pre-bleaching, unbleached oil is mixed with once-used bleaching earth, resulting in a 75% reduction of undesirable attendant material. In the second stage, or final bleaching, pre-bleached oil is mixed with fresh bleaching earth. This two tier process leads to a reduced consumption of bleaching earth up to 40%.
